Family Friendly / Drop-in
Real and replica metal objects from the Museum’s handling collection – made of silver, gold and bronze – were available for families to hold and investigate. They sorted objects into types of metal, discussing the metals’ different properties and what they have been used to make throughout history.
Families then explored the Museum to find objects made from three different metals, drawing labelled pictures of each of their finds. These drawings were hung onto the globe with metallic string, with a large dot on the globe marking each object’s origin. Families were also invited to decorate the frame of the globe using gold and silver paper and gold leaf.
