Session outline
Learn about sailing in the time of Christopher Columbus through our wonderful collection of objects.
Find out about how sailors navigated the oceans before the invention of Satnav and digital devices.
Children will explore the galleries to find original navigational objects, including compasses and star globes, and handle ‘mystery’ objects used on ships.
They will also discover how sailors used stars to find their way on the seas.
